This Friday, we took our show to the peak of Whistler for one crazy party with the ‘Mozillians’ of Firefox fame… turns out these folks REALLY know how to throw down! It all happened at the Roundhouse Lodge at the top of the Whistler Village gondola.
We hit the stage at 10:30pm with a searing rendition of “Whole Lotta Love” to get the juices flowing. Host Joel Flynn aka Dr. Robert Downie Goulet finished his introductory mini-set with “For Those About To Rock”, calling on all Mozillians to answer his “Fire!!” with “Fox!!”. As crowd participation simmered to a boil, we welcomed our first guests onto the stage and into their very own Rock’n’Roll fantasy!!
Some of the highlights included two separate Beatles mini-sets, rowdy gang performances of “No Rest For The Wicked” and “Uptown Funk” and the ultimate “Smells Like Teen Spirit” send-off by the host.
Special thanks to Paul Filinson of Integral Management for putting on such a dynamic event, catering to over 1200 people and even providing ‘rockstar’ hospitality for the band. We are also grateful to the technical wizardry of Freman Audio for the dazzling sound system and personnel.
Above all, thank you Mozilla for being one of, if not THE greatest crowd we have ever experienced. We surely hope to rock you again!!
On May 13th, The Naturals plus white-tux-clad host Joel Flynn took its Rockaoke antics to the open water with Miss World Canada’s Dinner Gala Cruise. How can we put this mildly?
Let’s just say…Miss World Canada knows how to rock! These ladies and gentlemen sang, danced and partied in true Rockaoke fashion.
To open the night, Sidney Shindle set the tone with an unforgettable rendition of “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.
The demand was high: there was more sign-ups than there was time to play! The band rocked an entire 60-minute set before stepping aside for the dance presentations which highlighted the beauty and diversity of this great country.
The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the finale. A little “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson packed the dance floor with groovin’ bodies and reminded everyone that it’s all about SATURDAY NIGHT (and we in the spot!) for the Miss World Canada Competition at Queen Elizabeth Theatre on May 16th.
Thank you to all the singers, dancers and music enthusiasts for providing the energy and passion to elevate this party to legendary status.
An extra special thanks to Jonathan Dunn of FantaSea Entertainment for putting this event together. \m/
On May 5th aka Cinqo De Mayo, the tequila flowed and The Naturals donned the RaIlway Club to usher in their latest theme: the royal month of May-tallica. Host Joel Flynn brought an extra special surprise, unveiling the first prototype of “Plinko de Mayo”, the interactive game taking the Rockaoke world by storm!
We had some serious heavyweights in our midst tonight. Rockaoke vets who know how to command the stage. Thanks for your energy and support!
Dr. Goulet and The Naturals had the luck of the Irish to play at the historic Railway Club on March 17.
On Feb 10th, 2015, we played our final show at The Fanclub. Rockers came out early and often to sing their favourite songs. Performers who took the plunge with Feb-WHO-ary and Van-HALEN-Tine’s Day special selections were rewarded with free beer!
Thanks to the whole staff and establishment for providing the perfect place for this concept to unfold and evolve into a multifaceted show, far beyond what we could have imagined just a few years ago.
Special thanks to the rockers. You guys and gals who graced the stage every Tuesday and sang your hearts out are the lifeblood of this event. We are excited to bring you the next instalment of weekly Rockaoke…announcements coming soon!
But first, off to Prince George for the Canada Games!
Rockaoke Live finished off the month of “Pearl-Jamuary” in style with a crowd of certified grunge-lovers.
The night crowd arrived early at The Fanclub for a chance to sing with The Naturals.
As always it’s the singers who brought the energy and made the night memorable.
Until next month….. Feb-Who-ary, anyone?
2015 begins by paying tribute to one of the finest bands from the Pacific Northwest. Sing classics like “Even Flow”, “Better Man”, and “Last Kiss” with The Naturals power trio. Side note: Host-vocalist Joel Flynn does a mean Eddie Vedder. Yerrrrr!
What better way to spread the holiday cheer than to perform a festive “Hell’s Bells” with The Naturals power trio?
Feel like grungin’ it up? We sure do! All month long we feature a special menu of Nirvana classics for you to perform with The Naturals power trio. We’ll even sneak a little bit of Foo in there!
